National Security Adviser; Ribadu identifies 4 major security challenges in Nigeria

The National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu on Thursday said the present administration inherited four major security threats in the country which include Boko Haram, Niger Delta, banditry and kidnapping, which needs to be effectively tackled.

Penpushing reports that Ribadu stated this while addressing participants at the 19th All Nigeria Editors conference organised by the Guild of Editors in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, adding that kidnapping had taken over the position of robbery since people no longer carry money with them.

The Security Adviser emphasized that the military and other security operatives need to be encouraged, supported and identified with them to continue to give their best to the country, while he also appealed to Nigerian Editors to support the course

Penpushing further reports that Ribadu highlighted various positive signals of the ongoing efforts to bring security in the country under control, adding that as part of government efforts in the last 5 months has raised the country’s daily production to 1.7million barrels per day even while the country’s OPEC quota is i.8 million barrels per day.

‘What we had had been 1.1million barrel per day totalling less than 20 cargoes but now we are doing over 1.7 million barrels per day coming to 26 to 27 cargoes a day as an improvement on security in that sector’, he said.

Penpushing also reports that Ribadu on the situation in the South East, recalled the spate of attacks on police stations in parts of the country particularly in the South East before the advent of the Tinubu administration saying in the last two months there had been no such occurrence.
