38th Odemo of Isara -Remo Peter Ogunbayo installed as Governor Abiodun presents staff of office to monarch

The 38th Odemo of Isara Remo in Remo North Local Government Area of Ogun State, Oba Peter Oluwole Ogunbayo was on Tuesday officially installed as the traditional ruler of the ancient town.

‎Penpushing reports that, the installation ceremony, held at AUD Primary School, Isara Remo, attracted top government officials, traditional rulers, political office holders and dignitaries from across Ogun State and beyond.

Penpushing further reports that Abiodun described the event as a significant milestone in the history of Isara Remo, pointing out that it reflects the state government’s commitment to sustaining traditional institutions and preserving cultural heritage.

The Governor explained that the emergence of Ogunbayo followed due process after the stool became vacant with the passing of the former Odemo, Oba Albert Adedose Mayungbe, adding that the selection process was concluded on May 1, 2025.

‎Penpushing also reports that, he charged the newly installed monarch to promote peace and unity within his domain and maintain cordial relationships with neighbouring communities, while also mobilising the people towards fulfilling their civic responsibilities.

‎The governor, however, warned against land grabbing, stressing that the state government frowns at illegal land dealings and would not tolerate the involvement of traditional rulers in such activities.

‎Penpushing reports that Abiodun emphasized that the traditional ruler must support government efforts in curbing land grabbing and other criminalities within his domain.

‎The Chairman of Remo North Local Government, Hon. Oluwamuyiwa Sodade, in his remarks described the installation as divinely ordained and widely accepted by the people of Isara.

Penpushing further reports that he noted that the monarch’s emergence comes at a critical time when the community requires visionary leadership to drive development and position Isara as a centre for culture, tourism and investment.

‎The chairman, equally pledged the support of the local government, assuring that his administration would work closely with the monarch to ensure accelerated development in the area.

‎Penpushing also reports that the royal father in his acceptance address, expressed gratitude to God and appreciated the Ogun State Government for ensuring a transparent and credible selection process.

‎The monarch pledged his loyalty to the state government and promised to align his reign with developmental priorities in infrastructure, education, youth empowerment, agriculture and social welfare.

‎Penpushing reports that he emphasised unity and inclusiveness, assuring that his administration would accommodate all stakeholders, including ruling houses, youths, women groups and community associations.

‎The traditional ruler called on his co-contestants and indigenes of Isara Remo to embrace peace and work together for the progress of the community, and commended the state government for siting a legacy hospital project in Isara Remo, noting that it would enhance healthcare delivery and create employment opportunities for residents.

‎Penpushing further reports that dignitaries at the event included Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, and former President Olusegun Obasanjo,  among others, who congratulated the monarch and prayed for a peaceful and prosperous reign.

‎The installation ceremony marked the official commencement of Ogunbayo’s reign as the Odemo of Isara Remo, ushering in renewed expectations for peace, unity and development in the community.
