German organization encourages Nigerian farmers to invest in cashew production

The Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Nigeria, known as AHK, has encouraged Nigerian farmers to invest in agriculture to facilitate skills development in the agriculture business space and perspective.

Penpushing reports that, Head of Competence Centre Agribusiness of the German Organisation in Nigeria, Olayinka Makinwa said this on Friday at the flag off ceremony ahead of launch of a pilot project to develop skills around cashew,

The Head of Competence Centre Agribusiness of the German Organisation who disclosed  that, the body has partnered with Ogun state Chambers of Commerce Industry, Mines and Agriculture (OGUNCCIMA)  emphasized that it makes a lot of sense to invest into agriculture

“From a business perspective it makes a lot of sense to invest into agriculture and also to facilitate skills development in the agriculture space. The project seeks to make an important contribution to the cashew production value chain by enhancing qualitative technical and vocational education and skills training in line with industry demands and standards’,she said

Penpushing further reports that, the President Ogun State Chambers of Commerce, Industry Mines and Agriculture,(OGUNCIMMA), Alhaji Wasiu Olaleye in his own remarks said  the project of developing skills around the cashew sector was a way of improving the quality and quantity of the produce  in Ogun State.

The chambers boss pointed out that, it’s a great opportunity for farmers to key into the project in other to improve on the qualities of cashew that are being produce in Ogun State in other to eradicate poverty.

“This another opportunity for our farmers to key into this project so that they can improve on the qualities of the cashew that were producing in Ogun State and you know this will eradicate poverty” he said.

Penpushing also  reports that,  Olaleye  disclosed that the  pilot program is to traint 80 farmers, explain that the second phase was also in pipeline, and will be beneficiary to farmers at all levels, as well as the residents.
