Mischief-makers’ ‘appointed’ me as crimes commission chairman, says Odumosu

The Assistant Inspector General of Police, Hakeem Odumosu (rtd), has denied being appointed as Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), saying those behind the fake appointment are mischief-makers

Penpushing reports that the former Commissioner of Police Lagos State Command made this known in a statement on Wednesday to clear air on the purported appointment, claiming that the report was a falsehood, attributing it to malicious individuals seeking to cause confusion.

The retired police officer while dismissing the report in the statement urged the general public to disregard the information in its entirety, stressing that since the fake news hit social media he has been inundated with so many calls and messages.

‘Good Morning everyone, I have been inundated with so many calls and messages between yesterday and today on a purported “EFCC Appointment”., I just want to use this opportunity to debunk this information and say it’s totally untrue. This information must have emanated from Mischief Makers and should be totally disregarded”, Odumosu wrote

Penpushing further reports that it is recalled that on late Tuesday the reports, disseminated on multiple media platforms, (Penpushing Media not inclusive) stated that President Bola Tinubu had appointed Odumosu to lead the anti-graft agency.
