Stop withholding constituency allocations, Ogun state lawmakers tell Governor Abiodun

The Ogun State House of Assembly on Tuesday called on Governor Dapo Abiodun to desist from holding on to their constituency allowances, aimed to enable them contribute meaningfully to their constituencies.

Penpushing reports that, Speaker of the Assembly, Rt Hon Kunle Oluomo made the appeal during the presentation of the proposed 2022 budget by the Governor, held at the hallow chambers in Abeokuta.

The Speaker who declared that, he was speaking the minds of his colleagues said the Governor should used the titled of the budget, he tagged,’2022 Budget of Restoration’, to save them from embarrassment from their various constituencies

‘I am appealing to you sir, with all the 26 members including myself to use the title of this 2022 budget of restoration to restore our honour and dignity at home by approving our constituency allowance projects’, Oluomo emphasised.

Penpushing further reports that, the lawmakers drew attention of the Governor to the fact that, constituency allowance projects are supposed to be allowance scheme applicable at national level all over

‘Constituency  allowance projects is supposed to be allowance scheme applicable at the national level and all over. We are counting the clock and the calendar, constituency  projects is the little that members are  expected to do to their respective constituency’, Oluomo told Abiodun

Penpushing also reports that, the speaker said the lawmakers appreciate all the efforts of the Governor, in making the state great, however, emphasized the need for him(Abiodun) to revamp their honour and dignity in their constituencies

‘While appreciating you, on all the efforts you’re doing at the state and local government level, we are appealing that you should please revamp our honour and dignity at home, so that we also can point to one or two things that we have done to our constituency through constituency allowance projects’, Oluomo emphasised

Penpushing reports that, he said he also has the mandate of all members of the immediate past 8th legislature led by former Speaker, Suraj Adekunbi to remind the Governor on their severance allowances..

‘Similarly, I have the mandate of all the members of the immediate past 8th legislature led by Rtd Hon. Suraj Ishola Adekunbi to remind your Excellency on the severance allowance of the members of the 8th legislature’, he stated.

‘I must tell you Sir, majority of the members of that legislature are part of this administration, if we are able to give them severance allowances they will be able to do more for the people on the part of our government. We look for a more robust and relationship with your office’,he stated.
