POLICE DISBAND SPECIAL TACTICAL SQUAD FEW DAYS AFTER CONTROVERSIAL SEARCH OF EDWIN CLARK’S HOME

Penpushing reports that, the disbandment, which takes immediate effect, comes three days after Clark’s home in Abuja was raided by police officers, while the police authorities said its men did not secure appropriate clearance before proceeding on the raid.

The approach was condemned by the Inspector General of Police which led to the sack of three of the four officers who participated in the controversial search, while the fourth officer, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, has been suspended as investigation into his role is being thoroughly conducted.

Penpushing recalled that the Inspector General of Police also sent senior police officers, including a Deputy Inspector-General, to apologise to the 91 year old Clark, who in response said he had accepted the police’s apology, but insisted nonetheless that the operation was sanctioned at the high-levels of police command chain, a claim the police continue to push back against.
