Awoso leads committee on oversight function to Agro-Cargo Airport in preparatory for official operations
The Chairman House Committee on Works and Infrastructure Hon Adegoke Adeyanju Awoso on Wednesday led members of the committee to assess level of work ahead of final preparation for the official operations of the Agro-Cargo Airport located in Ilishan-Remo area of Ogun State.
Penpushing reports that the lawmaker representing Yewa North 1 State Constituency explained that the visit was in line with their role as lawmakers, as stipulated in 1999 Constitution as amended Section 128 and 129.
The committee boss accompanied by Hon. Lukman Adeleye, Hon. Sunday Ayodele, Hon. Atobatele Lukman, Hon. Segun Kaka and Hon. Soneye Oluwadamilola, expressed satisfaction on level work, adding that the work is over 70 percent
‘It is my joy to state that the work is over 70% completed, and according to the Project Manager of Craineburg Company, works will be completed very soon with the assurance that full commercial operations will commence before year end’, he added.
‘I was indeed impressed with standard cargo warehouse, the completed temporary departure waiting room of over 300 square meters well-furnished and the over 3000 Square metre standard waiting room which is almost completed’, Awoso added.
The committee, however, praised Governor Dapo Abiodun who he described, a man of standard, stressing that this indeed is a testament that Ogun State is truly the Gateway to development and Industrialization in Nigeria.
Penpushing further reports that the team later left to Makun, Sagamu to check the Ojumele- Ajegunle damaged portion of newly constructed road when the residents called their attention to it, noting that it is unfortunate that the damaged road was not as result of any bad work by the contractor, nor the use of inferior materials, but by the non-chalant attitude of people by dropping refuse in the drainage system.
The lawmaker equally noted that there were cases of illegal structures erected along erosion channels which led to overflow of water that dampened the portion which led to damage, adding that in swift reaction called the attention of the Ministry of Physical Planning and Ministry of Environment to visit the place.
‘I have called the attention of the Ministry of Physical Planning and Ministry of Environment to visit this place to warn and enlighten the people. We have also saddled them with the responsibility of doing the necessary things that needs to be done’, he said.
‘I will also like to use this medium to extend my heartfelt appreciation to the people’s Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Segun Elemide for giving us the enabled environment to perform our duties. He has indeed demonstrated that he is a leader, and not a boss’, Awoso stated.
‘He has also been ringing it to our hearings that the government belongs to all of us, and not Prince Dapo Abiodun alone and we should treat it so regardless of the political affiliation that took us to Ogun State House Of Assembly’, he emphasised.
‘We should not engage ourselves in anything that will bring discord between us and the executive arm of government. We should always do what will give our state a good reputation and also be accommodating to our investors in order to support the good agenda of Prince Adedapo Abiodun’, he stated.
‘I will like to appeal to our people that we should all do the right things at the right time. We should endeavor to always protect all government legacy projects because they are no more government property alone but belong to all of us because all projects are executed with tax payer money’, Awoso added.
