Penpushing member Olusola Oyewole gloriously bows out of service, marks 70th birthday in grandstyle
A prominent member of Penpushing platform, Prof Olusola Oyewole on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, gloriously took a bow in retirement from the Federal University of Agriculture (FUNAAB), Abeokuta after meritorious service.
Penpushing reports that Oyewole, a former Vice-Chancellor of the university, was at same time celebrated his 70th birthday, as well as commencement of a second-term of his eight-year tenure as Secretary General of the Association of African Universities (AAU), with headquarters in Accra, Ghana.
The triplet celebrations kicked off with a thanksgiving service on Sunday September 28, 2025 at Divine Heights Bible Church, Kotopo, Abeokuta–Ibadan Way, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria by 8:00 a.m
Penpushing further reports Ministering Pastor was Dr. Sam Samson Bamigbayan, General Overseer, New Testament Assembly, Nigeria, and the celebration continued on Tuesday, September, 30, 2025 with special university senate session and other campus activities at Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta
The former Dean of the College and erstwhile Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Development, Prof Lateef Sanni who is now Executive Director, Nigerian Stored Products Research Institute (NSPRI) spoke glowingly in honour of Oyewole.
Penpushing also reports that the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof Babatunde Kehinde speaking at the special senate session which was part of the ceremony, presented Oyewole with gifts on behalf of the University.
The College of Food Science and Human Ecology (COLFHEC) led by the Dean of the College, Prof Adebukunola Omemu showered accolades on Oyewole, describing him as a father and leader, while other colleagues extolled his humility, mentorship, and global academic impact.
Penpushing reports that the train of the ceremony was later moved to DLK Events Centre on Abiola Way, Abeokuta for reception, where number of dignitaries and other guests were not left out.
The General Overseer of Victory Life Bible Church (VLBC), Apostle Lawrence Achudume, presided over the launch of three books written by the celebrator, which was reviewed by Prof Ololade Enikuomehin who was Acting Vice-Chancellor at the university in 2017.
Penpushing further reports that Adeyinka Alaseyori, a gospel minister, singer, and songwriter took the stage and ignited the auditorium with melodious, while Oyewole and his family members could not hold back their joy, exhibiting their dancing skills
The celebrator while speaking said the celebration was more than a marking of years; adding that it is a testimony to God’s unfailing grace and faithfulness, and a moment to reflect on His mercies throughout his journey in life, academia, and service to God and humanity.
