NEGLECT OF CULTURE RESPONSIBLE FOR ‘YAHOO YAHOO’ OPERATIONS AMONG NIGERIAN YOUTHS-PROFESSOR RAJI

The electoral boss frowned at the development, where religion overrides the importance of culture, explaining that there is difference between the two, hence, the need to consider the moral values of culture in the developmental growth of the youths and the nation

‘Culture must be accommodated in the nation policy. When we bring foreign culture and jettison ours, it is dangerous. We should not allow foreign culture to take over our own culture, under the guise of religion. This is what brought about yahoo yahoo among our youths. There is difference between culture and religion’, he emphasized.

Penpushing further reports that, Raji while buttressing his position, said he recalled when growing up as a child, any child or children who are considered as hardened in a negative manner are always banished from the community to be reformed.

‘I remember when we were growing up as a child, culture serve a meaningful measure to correct bad attitude of a child. Any child who behave in a criminal manner would be banished, and it was a shame for a child to be banished from the community, and this is done as a corrective measure to reform such child’

Penpushing further reports that, the awardee said it was unfortunate that, culture and its value to set good standard is gradually going into oblivion, and profusely appealed for its revival before the bad situation finally get out of the hand.

The Pan-Africanism is a worldwide movement that is aims to encourage and strengthened bond of solidarity between all people of African descent. Penpushing also reports that, it is based on the belief that unity is vital to economic, social and political progress and aims to unify and uplift people of African descent, while the leadership prize for excellence is for those individuals whose lives exemplify the ideal of living for the sake of others and dedicate themselves to practice which promotes African moral values.
