I love mentoring young professionals, says Yemisi Peters

Oluwayemisi Peters is a human resources leader and community empowerment champion, as well as focusing on immigrant integration and mentorship, who in this exclusive interview with Penpushing Media, owner of online newspaper and television shared some of her vision which cut across the globe. Penpushing Media: Who is Yemisi Peters?

Yemisi Peters: Thank you for having me. I would describe myself as a passionate and purpose-driven Human Resources leader, DEI advocate, and community empowerment champion. With over a decade of HR experience across Nigeria, the United States, and Canada, I bring a global perspective to workforce development, recruitment, and inclusive leadership. I’m also a mentor, writer, and speaker deeply committed to equity and access.

Penpushing Media: What are some of your major accomplishments?

Yemisi Peters: I’ve had the privilege of leading strategic talent acquisition initiatives for non-profits and small businesses, mentoring dozens of newcomers and young professionals, and publishing thought leadership on inclusive hiring and neurodiversity. I currently serve as Vice Chair of CPHR Alberta (Edmonton Chapter), and I’m actively involved with several professional and immigrant mentorship programs. One of the projects closest to my heart is the Priceless Jewel Foundation, which has empowered over 5,000 women and girls in Western Nigeria through skills training and advocacy.

Penpushing Media: You are the founding member and the current Executive Director of the Priceless Jewel Foundation. What does that role mean to you?

Yemisi Peters: Being a founding member and Executive Director of Priceless Jewel Foundation is both an honour and a responsibility. We started this non-profit to help women gain independence through vocational training, financial literacy, and advocacy against gender-based violence and have successfully been uplifting lives and creating opportunities for those who have traditionally been left behind. I remain actively involved, even from Canada, because the mission is deeply personal.

Penpushing Media: Now that you’ve relocated to Canada, how are you continuing your passion for empowerment and supporting underrepresented groups?

Yemisi Peters: Relocating to Canada has expanded my reach. I now focus on immigrant integration, workplace inclusion, and professional mentorship here. I mentor through various organizations. I also provide coaching to help immigrants and professionals of colour navigate the Canadian job market. My consulting work helps organizations build strategic hiring practices and helped individuals integrate seamlessly into the Canadian workforce.

Penpushing Media: Where do you see yourself in the next 10 years?

Yemisi Peters: I see myself leading a global consultancy that specializes in career development and workforce development, and organizational change. I also see myself sitting on boards that influence public policy around immigration, education, and workforce. I want to keep writing, teaching, and mentoring; essentially being a connector between opportunity and underrepresented voices worldwide.

Yemisi Peters: I am undoubtedly excellent at what I do. I work with purpose-driven professionals, HR teams, and organizations who are serious about building dynamic workplaces and hiring strategies that reflect the world we live in. I have directly impacted over 1000 individuals through my work in recruitment, coaching, mentorship, and training across two continents. My expertise has earned me multiple recognitions, and I continue to speak, teach, and consult globally.
