Governor suspends 87 officials for not attending official event
The Governor of Ebonyi State Francis Nwifuru has suspended 87 government officials for failing to attend an official function, and the list include 25 commissioners, 14 senior special assistants, 24 special assistants, and 22 permanent secretaries.
Penpushing reports that the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Monday Uzor made this known in a statement, stressing that they were suspended for failing to attend an important government function.
The statement added that the suspended officials are to proceed on a one-month working suspension without salary, emphasizing that the suspension takes immediate effect, and the suspended officials are barred from signing any official documents during the period.
Penpushing further reports that the Governor’s spokesperson in the statement explained that the commissioners were instructed to hand over to their respective permanent secretaries.
“The Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has directed that the underlisted government functionaries proceed on one-month working suspension without salary for failure to attend an important government function,” the statement read.

The affected commissioners are Engr. Stanley Lebechi Mbam, Prof. Leonard Uguru, Dr. Mathew Nwobashi, Prof. Nwogo Obasi, Hon. Victor Chukwu, Engr. Jude Okpor, Barrister. Ikeuwa Omebe, Hon. Chidi Onyia, Chief Oguzo – Offia Nwali, Dr. Ben. Uruchi Odo, Dr. Donatus Ilang, Dr. Mrs Ngozi Obichukwu and Dr. Moses Ekuma Ikenna
