Civil Defence Corps inaugurates Information Communication Technology Centre to tackle crimes in Ogun State

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ogun State Command on Tuesday commissioned an Information Communication Technology (ICT) Forensic Laboratory Centre aimed to combat any act of terrorism, disaster management as well as anti – vandalization among sundry crimes.

Penpushing reports that, the State Commandant of the Corp, Hammed Abodurin  in his opening speech at the corps permanent site located at Owu-Dedeke along Abeokuta-Kobape highway explained that the center is part of the efforts towards enhancing the preparedness of the agency to meet the core mandate of combating crimes and criminality in the society.

The Commandant pointed out that 80 percent of cyber crimes are committed on phones, assuring that the laboratory will assist in training officers in cyber security through use of gadgets  to detect crime scenes across the state and environs.

The Ogun State Governor  Dapo Abiodun in his remarks charged the agency leadership to extend the gesture to other sister security agencies within the arm forces as their contribution towards making the society free of crime

Penpushing further reports that, Abiodun who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Tokunbo Talabi, emphasised that no society can develop without enhancing the ICT, adding that this has been accepted globally

“It is already acknowledge all over the world that no state can progress without enhancing ICT . The Civil Defence has taken a very giant and bold step to ensure that not only are we going to be physical available but we are also  going to avail ourselves with data and the only way to do that is to raise the capacity of the people who will interact with this date”.

“So, I am expecting that when this centre is fully operational NSCDC will also extend this good gesture to other sister security agencies in the arm forces and outside of their immediate catchment areas to enhance and uplift the level of ICT awareness of our people”,he said

Penpushing also reports that, at the ceremony ,number of the agency officers were decorated to higher positions following their elevation, with a call on them to see the promotions as a call to greater service

Meanwhile, in attendance include:  Commandant of the 35 Artillery Brigade of the Nigeria Army, Alamala, Abeokuta, Commissioner of Police, Commandant TRACE, Commandant So-Safe Corps Comptroller Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and traditional rulers among others
