Polytechnic Ibadan name 72 -rooms’ office complex in honor of Governor Makinde

The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Oyo State on Monday laid foundation of 72 rooms office complex in honor of the Governor of the state, Engr Seyi Makinde, with submission the proposed edifice, tagged: “Engineer Seyi Makinde Academic Office Complex for Lecturer” will help lecturers in the institution to give their best to students.

Penpushing reports that the Rector of the institution, Professor Kazeem Adebiyi while speaking with journalists  during the ‘turning of the sod’ of the complex noted that  the 72 rooms standard office complex for senior lecturers was one of the aim of the institution in solving challenges facing lecturers in the institution.

The rector pointed out that welfarism of staff is part of requirements for accreditation of courses by National Board of Technical Education Studies (NBTE),adding that the government was approached when the idea was conceived and gave approval.

“Today is a remarkable day because this is the first time we will be having this, we approached the government after the idea was conceived and the government gave nod to it and support us both financially.”

Penpushing further reports that, Adebiyi  stated that the budget for the complex was N458, adding that  it will take 36 weeks for its completion, thanking the state government for keying into the vision.

The Chairman of the Governing Council of the institution, Professor Kunle Akinyemi in his remarks described the project as remarkable achievements, saying that taking care of the staff of the institution and their office accommodations as very important.

“With the provision of this office complex, staff will be free to run their activities without any disturbance; this will boost academic performance of the students”, the governing council chairman said

Penpushing also reports that, Akinyemi, however urged the state government to allocate more fund for the institution, so that management of the school will be able to provide conducive environment of learning for the students.

The Deputy Director in charge of Higher Education at Oyo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mrs Adeola Ademuyiwa lauded the efforts of the institution towards the welfarism of its staff, saying that this was the beginning of greater things in the institution.

Penpushing reports that dignitaries at the event include members of the Governing Council of the institution, registrar of the institution, Mrs Modupe Fawale and other principal officers, Dean of faculties, and Heads of Department (HOD) among others.
