Police service commission promotes 417 officers

The Police Service Commission(PSC) has approved the promotion of  417 Senior Police Officers,as well as  approved promotion examinations for Police Officers scheduled to start from next year 2023 in line with the Public Service Rules.

Head, Press and Public Relations of the commission made this known in a statement, adding that, these were the highpoints of the 15th plenary meeting of the commission holding in Abuja and presided over by Justice Clara Bata Ogunbiyi, (rtd), acting Chairman of the Commission.
The statement added that the commission also approved the appointment of Assistant Inspector Generals Bello Sadiq, Dandaura Mustapha, to the substantive rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police, explaining that while the new Deputy Inspector General Sadiq was appointed to fill the vacant position of Deputy Inspector General, Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB), Deputy Inspector General Dandaura whose appointment takes effect from October 20th, 2022 will be replacing, Deputy Inspector General  Sadiq who is expected to retire from the service on the said date.
Penpushing further reports that, the commission approved the promotion of twelve Commissioners of Police to the next rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police, adding that they include; Egbetokun Olukayode Adeolu,  Emienbo Tony Assayomo, Christiana Ibiso Cookey,  Evelyn  Tamunoimi Peterside and  Eboka Friday
The others are: Adesina Musbau Soyemi, Asafa Adekunle, Edward Chuka Egbuka, Janet Agbede, Oruebo  Josiah Daso,  Olokode Taoheed Olawale, and Abutu.
Penpushing also reports that 57 Assistant Commissioners of Police were equally promoted to Deputy Commissioners of Police and they includeSuel Yerima Gimba; Alhaji Mohammed Danladi; Richard Bala Gara;  Lasis Titilola; Obuagbaka John and  Aliko Mohammed Dankoli.
The others promoted by the commission include; Silas Bamidele Aremu; Sylvester Onyie Uzoefuna;  Shaq Ismail Salihu; Magaji Ismaila; Ali Garba Sarbi; Theodore Chukwuemeka Obasi and  Sarah Idowu Ehindero among others
Penpushing reports that other approvals also include: 60 Chief Superintendents of Police to the rank of Assistant Commissioners of Police, and they Include Odion  Benedict Aire; Garba Sule yaro;  Abayomi Akinpelu Oni;  Badamasi Musa , Rabiu Musa and Bamidele Awoniyi.
The commission in the same vein, approved the promotion of 286 Superintendents of Police to Chief Superintendents, and they are Joseph Sunday Eyanagho,  Oluwatoyin Joseph Adesope,  Christopher Chiroma,, Ugochukwu Kingsley Ijeoma, Emmanuel Okwudili  Nwangwu, Moses Maku, Numan Umaru Ismaila, Uchenna Noah, Jummai Omata Kuforiji; Ugah Okoh Joseph; Makama Evans Linus; Dahiru Nda Ibrahim;  Ibrahim Ignatius; Mohammad Bashir;  Dorothy Igweze, Joseph Ugwu Onaji, and  Andrew Mgbabor.
Penpushing further reports that, he commission had earlier approved the commencement of promotion examinations for police officers from 2023, and took notice of the Public Service Rules 020701, 020702, 020703 and 160304 which prescribed examinations as one of the conditions for promotions in the Public Service and approved that henceforth promotion examination will be a pre-requisite for promotions in the Nigeria Police Force.
The Commission also approved the setting up of the Police Promotion Examination Board, explaining that 11-member board will have a representative of the Nigeria Police Force who must not be below the rank of a Deputy Inspector General of Police.
Penpushing reports that the on-going I5th Plenary meeting of the commission will resume on Thursday, October 6th 2022 with an interactive meeting with Deputy Commissioners of Police recommended for promotion to the rank of Commissioners of Police.
