Nigeria Union of Teachers applauds Governor Abiodun for approving level 17 for primary school teachers

The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Ogun State Chapter has applauded Governor Dapo Abiodun for approving Grade Level 17 for degree-holding primary school teachers and the consolidated salary structure for Head Teachers-General in the state,.

Penpushing reports that in statement jointly signed by the Chairman of the State Wing Executive Council (SWEC), Comrade Sewakanu Noah Oladipupo, and the Secretary, Comrade Samson Oyelere, described the decision as a historic milestone and a masterstroke of visionary leadership.

The union added that the approval had restored dignity to the teaching profession and boosted morale across the primary education sector, stressing that the approval reflected Governor Abiodun’s unwavering commitment to the growth and development of education in Ogun State

Penpushing further reports that the statement noted that the policy would directly benefit over 14,000 primary school teachers, adding that the governor’s action had elevated the status of primary school teachers and rekindled the flame of commitment, dedication and renewed hope in the hearts of educators across the state.

The union describing the governor as a leader with a deep understanding of the teaching profession, pointed out that, as a product of teachers, the Governor had once again demonstrated an unforgetful love for the teaching profession, adding that the gesture exemplified the truth that nobody’s gratitude is greater than that of a grateful heart.

Penpushing also reports that the union explained that the elevation to Grade Level 17 would have far-reaching implications for the education sector, saying it would enhance teachers’ morale, attract and retain top talents in primary education, and ultimately lead to improved learning outcomes and a more enlightened citizenry.”

The statement referencing the words of the late South African leader, Nelson Mandela,recalled that education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world, adding that the Governor had effectively wielded that weapon by empowering teachers and strengthening the foundation of education in Ogun State.

Penpushing reports that while expressing profound gratitude, the body assured the governor of its continued loyalty, stating that teachers in the state remained unwaveringly committed to the success of his administration, its future endeavours, and the sustainable development of the education sector.”

The union equally extended appreciation to other government officials and stakeholders whose contributions made the approval possible, describing the development as a monumental achievement that will remain a reference point in the history of education in Ogun State.”
