Nigeria government appoints Jose Peseiro, a portuguese as the new super eagles head Coach

The Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) has named a 61 year old Jose Peseiro as the new Head Coach of the Super Eagles,an appointment given to the Portuguese after  the football body executive committee meeting held via video conference on Wednesday.

Penpushing reports that, a release by the Nigerai Football Federation(NFF),explained that Peseiro will be an observer at the African Cup of Nations Tournament, scheduled for  kicks off on January 9 in Cameroon, with Augustine Eguavoen acting as the interim manager.

The release added that, that the committee resolved that Eguavon who is the interim coach will lead the Super Eagles to the African Cup of Nations in Cameroon with the newly appointed coach(Peseiro) serving as observer.

“However, the Committee resolved that Mr. Augustine Eguavoen named the interim Head Coach, will lead the Super Eagles to the AFCON 2021 in Cameroon with Mr. Peseiro only playing the role of Observer’, statement emphasised.

“It was unanimously agreed that the AFCON is a good avenue for Mr. Peseiro to launch a working relationship with Mr. Eguavoen, who will revert to his role as Technical Director (hence Mr. Peseiro’s immediate boss) after the AFCON”, the statement added

Penpushing further reports that,Peseiro has had a 29-year coaching career, which started at Uniao Santarem in Portugal, and  also coached before in Africa at Al Ahly in 2015, while in similar vein has coached the national sides of Saudi Arabia and Venezuela.
