Mortuary attendant allegedly beheads minor in cemetery
A mortuary attendant, Lukman Kushimo has been arrested authorities of the So-Safe Corps, the Ogun State-owned security outfit, for allegedly beheading a male minor at Oke Yidi cemetery in Abeokuta, the state capital.
Penpushing reports that, Public Relations Officer of the Corps, Moruf Yusuf made this known in a statement, explaining that the suspect was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday during a routine patrol by the agency.
The Corps spokesman said the suspect confessed during interrogation that the beheaded corpse was brought to the cemetery from the Federal Medical Centre(FMC), Abeokuta after he died due to complications from a kidney disease.”
Penpushing further reports that, Yusuf added that , the suspect explained that the parents of the deceased, who came from Ibadan, requested for his assistance as a mortuary attendant to get the body buried.
The agency image maker said, the suspect after burying the corpse inside the cemetery, in the presence of his parents at about 7 p.m. on Monday, he returned to the cemetery at 6 a.m. the following day (Tuesday) to sever the head
Penpushing also reports that, Yusuf said the suspect engaged the So-Safe officers in a fierce fight, adding that he was, however, overpowered and handcuffed him,adding that he confessed that the fresh head was meant for one Chief Ifalonishe (AKA Lanroye) at the rate of N50,000.
The Public Relations Officer of the So-Safe Corps said the suspect also confessed that the severed head was supposed to be delivered to the alleged buyer(Lanroye) at a designated point within Abeokuta metropolis.
Penpushing reports that, the Commander of the So-Safe Corps, Commander Soji Ganzallo, has ordered the operation department of the corps to ensure the arrest of the alleged accomplices and bring to book.
