IT WAS A BIG ERROR ON PART OF PRESIDENT BUHARI TO SEE SARAKI EMERGING AS SENATE PRESIDENT, SAYS OYO LAWMAKER

“In politics, not everybody you can work with, how can you work with someone who is looking for the downfall of your administration? This problem we are seeing now in our party would have been averted if appropriate steps have been taken at that time’

” The problem started in 2015 when we were elected, we still have three months ahead of our inauguration but unfortunately, no meeting was called by the President for us to know ourselves, during this time, series of meetings should have taken place between all Senators elected under the platform of APC and the President to know how key position will be shared among us so as to remain in the majority till the end of our tenure in order to avert future conflict which we are experiencing now in our party”

The Chairman Senate Committee on ICT and Cybercrime noted that no executive can work or succeed without the national assembly because they must work hand in hand to move a nation forward

“We can see what is going on between the legislature and the executive arm of government in Nigeria, there is competition for supremacy of power which will on the other hand affect the running of this country “

While reacting to the question about defection that erupted the national assembly where 15 APC Senators and 37 APC House of Representative members defected to another political party recently, Buhari said despite the defection, APC still maintain its majority at the two upper chamber but the only way to solve the problem is to look at the causes

“Even though some of our colleagues have left, APC still remains the majority party in the Senate in terms of numbers, out of the 109 Senators we have in Senate, APC has 52, PDP has 50, ADC has three and APGA has two, and you will recall that we lost two of our colleagues, so we have two vacant seats and the total gives you 109’
