ORPHANS ASSOCIATION CALLS FOR THE DREAM ACTUALIZATION OF GIRL CHILD

 “Today being the International Day of the Girl Child, The Association for Orphans and Vulnerable Children NGOs in Nigeria (AONN) seeks the support of Nigerians for Girl Child in actualizing their dreams and their potentials’, she said.

Penpushing further reports that, Dafiel while revealing the aim of the program tagged “Nigerian Girl Child, Unscripted and Unstoppable”, noted that the program was organized to commemorate with girl child on this special day, and to tackle the issues that negate the quality of service delivery for a girl child in Nigeria.

“It has been a wonderful meeting since yesterday, let us allow girl child to fly, they have wing and they can always fly, stop training them in a stereotypic ways but let us allow them to fulfill their potentials because sky is the beginning for them if permitted’.

Penpushing also reports that, she however appealed to the Federal Government, to as a matter of urgency do the needful and ensure the release of Leah Sharibu and other Chibok girls who were still in detention of the Boko Haram.

 The Executive Director of Nigeria Network of Non-Governmental Organisations(NGOs), Mr. Oyebisi Oluseyi, who spoke about the importance of girl child in the society, called for the support of gender equality, noting  that a girl child needs to be trained to be self-dependent and not for marriage purposes alone.

Penpushing reports that, in the same vein, the Deputy National Coordinator (North Central) of the group, Mrs. Christy Abayomi said that girl child need to be unscripted and unstoppable, explaining further that a girl need to be educated and empowered so her dreams and vision can be fulfilled.

Hear her, “every 11th day of October has been set aside by the United Nation Organization to celebrate the International Day of the Girl across the globe, the day exists to recognize girls’ rights and the unique challenges girls face all over the world’.

“It is also meant to promote the empowerment of young girls everywhere, while also advocating for the attainment of their basic human rights, like education and bodily autonomy.
