Gunmen abduct schoolgirls in Zamfara state

Gunmen on Friday abducted about 300 schoolgirls of  the Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe in Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State, and this latest  incident in the state adds to the growing insecurity around the country.

Penpushing reports that, the attack came ten days after over 40 students, staff members and parents were abducted by armed bandits from a school in Niger State, while as at the time of filing this reports the victims were yet to be released

The Zamfara State Government has, however, confirmed the abduction of schoolgirls but was yet to established number of the victims, adding that government is working with security operatives to ascertain the details of the kidnap and ensure the kidnapped victims are freed.

Penpushing further reports Governor Bello Matawalle media aide, confirmed the incident, while a teacher in the school was quoted saying that about 300 female students were kidnapped during the gunmen operation.

Meanwhile, Zamfara State has been identified as, one of the states most affected by bandits’ attacks, while the attacks have continued despite negotiations initiated by the state government with the bandits.
