Edo state assembly shut
The leadership of the Edo State House of Assembly has ordered the closure of the assembly for two weeks for fumigation of the complex, with additional directive that the staff should make their phones available for any emergency need.
Penpushing reports that, the Acting Director, Administration and Supplies, Stephen Guobadia, made this known in a statement, stressing that, the workers of the assembly should remain home for the period
The Acting Director who issued the statement on behalf of the Clerk of the House, said, “I am directed to inform all staff of Edo State House of Assembly that the Leadership of the House has instructed that all Management Staff remain at home for 14 days from Tuesday, 16th June, 2020.
“This is as a result of the fumigation exercise to be carried out in the Assembly Complex at three (3) different times. All Management Staff are advised to leave their phones open in case of further information.”
Penpushing further reports that, the Assembly has been engulfed by political crisis in the last one year, and this was as a result of protracted face-off between Governor Godwin Obaseki and his predecessor, Adams Oshiomhole.
The political supremacy between the duo also resulted to difficulty in inaugurating at least 14 of its 24 member since their election, while it is also on record that 10 of the members are loyal to Obaseki, while the majority 14 pitched their tents with Oshiomhole.
