Coronavirus: Nigerian government to evacuate citizens from Dubai, London

The Nigerian Government has concluded arrangements to evacuate 265 Nigerians from Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), with similar discussions ongoing with the British High Commission to evacuate 300 Nigerians from London on Friday, March 8,

Penpushing reports that, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs  made this known in a statement adding that the 265 Nigerians are expected to be brought back to Nigeria through Emirates airlines,and expected to arrive 3pm on Wedesday,May t at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos

The Public Relations Officer of the the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ferdinand Nwonye, in a statement disclosed that hotel accommodation in Lagos and Abuja have been put in place for the returnees.

“The hotels have been inspected by the following: Port Health Services, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, office of the National Security Adviser, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and IPC. Ministry wishes to further inform that adequate arrangements for hotel accommodation in Lagos and Abuja have been made for the evacuation exercise.”

Penpushing further reports that, the statement on those to be evacuated from London, disclosed that  discussions with the British Airways through the British High Commission to evacuate 300 Nigerians from London on Friday, March 8, are still ongoing.

The statement said, the flight (BA 9155) is expected to depart London Heathrow Airport, Terminal 5, at 07:10 AM and arrive Lagos at 1:10 PM on the same day, adding that in similar vein, arrangements with Ethiopian Airways to evacuate Nigerians from New York to Abuja are also ongoing as evacuees are expected on Monday, May 11.
