United Arab Emirates President dies at 73

The President of United Arab Emirates (UAE),Khalifa bin Zayed  has died at the age of 73, after protracted illness, just as the government of the emirates declared 40 days of official mourning in honour of  the deceased

Penpushing reports the Ministry of Presidential Affairs in a twitter on Friday explained that, for the period of the mourning, flags will be at half mast, as well as three days closure of the Ministries, and official entities at the federal and local levels, including the private sector

“The Ministry of Presidential Affairs announced that there will be 40 days of official mourning with flags at half mast and three days closure of ministries and official entities at the federal and local levels and the private sector,” the agency wrote on Twitter on Friday.

Penpushing further reports that, the late President had long ceased having involvement in day-to-day affairs, with his brother, Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed, seen as the de facto ruler.

There United Arab Emirates (UAE) authorities as at the time of filing this report was yet to make announcement about a successor, while it is recalled that, the late President in 2004 succeeded his father Sheikh Zayed, who is the founder of United Arab Emirates (UAE) .

Penpushing also reports that, the world’s tallest tower in the United Arab Emirates(UAE) of Dubai is named the Burj Khalifa after the late ruler.
