Coronavirus: Nigerian army supports Ogun state government with personal protective equipments

The Nigerian Military has supported the Ogun State Government with  Personal Protective Equipments( PPEs), as part of efforts towards flattening the curve of coronavirus in the country.

Penpushing reports that, the Chief of Army Staff,  Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai  presented the Personal Protective Equipments( PPEs) to Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr(Mrs) Noimot Salako-Oyedele.

The Chief of Army Staff, who was represented by General Officer Commanding 81 Division in charge of Lagos and Ogun states, Major General Joseph Irefin pointed out that the gestures were done in the spirit of support in fighting the menace.

Penpushing further reports that, the Deputy Governor in her remarks, at the ceremony held at Okemosan in Abeokuta appreciated the Nigerian Army for supporting the efforts of the state government  towards  providing necessary equipment to both the health sector and the patients.

The Deputy Governor added that it was worthy of note and commendable  that the donated items were locally  produced in Nigeria by the Defence Industry, pointing out that people had looked inwards and bring out their initiatives in this challenging period.

“The pandemic is all over the world and everyone is minding their businesses as it were,  but now, we have to look within ourselves in Nigeria to see what we can do to support ourselves,  we have had to use Nigeria manpower to manage all the equipment we are having to use, we have had to re-configure equipment that we have and this has shown the inherent capacity in our system here in Nigeria” she stressed.

Penpushing also reports that, Salako-Oyedele added that the equipment being donated would be sent to health sector especially the Personal Protective Equipments( PPEs  for the health care practitioner who are on the frontline of the battle to keep the patients well.

‘A lot of policies had been put in place by the present administration to ensure that health workers received the best in terms of insurance policies and hazard allowances as well as having right equipment to work with”

Penpushing reports that, she added that sensitization and enlightenment campaigns were on- going at various markets in the State with the provision of hand washing facilities to keep the citizens safe.
