‎FMC ABEOKUTA SECURES 170 HECTARES OF LAND FOR VARSITY, TEACHING HOSPITAL

 The Medical Director of the cCenter, Prof. Adewale Musa Olomu made this known at a press conference marking his 100 days in office. The 170 hectares of land, according to the Director, is located along Ajebo road in Obafemi/Owode Local Government Area of the state.

 He disclosed that the land including its Certificate of Occupancy which worths  N2.6billion, was donated to the center by Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, describing Amosun’s gesture as “rare, unprecedented and terribly enormous.”

 Olomu said, transformation of Federal Medical Center into a Teaching Hospital was part of his 9- point agenda, saying partners with International and Private businesses, the construction will be built faster.

 In his words “The land is for development into a University Medicine and School of Preliminary Studies in fulfillment of part of the requirements for the upgrading of this centre into a Teaching Hospital.

 “The cost of the land including the Certificate of Occupancy was about N2.6billion”he said.

 “The whole hospital community is grateful to His Excellency, Senator Ibikunle Amosun for this rare gesture. Definitely, when history of this centre is being written, Amosun will have his name in gold’.

 “The Centre is presently finalising  arrangments with an international private business partner for the development of site for the purposes intended preparatory to the centre’s transformation into a Teaching Hospital.”Olomu said.

 As part of generating funds, Olomu said the hospital had established pure water, block making factories, business ventures, while Intravenous Fluid (IVF) and bread making industry would kick off very soon.

 The Medical Director added that, FMC is committed to its core mandate to treat patients and save lives. “We are trying as much as possible to give our patients the best. We are here to treat them and not to kill” he said.
