United Nations organizes symposium to celebrate International Youth Day
The United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) will on Thursday organized a symposium and panel discussion, scheduled as part of activities to mark the 2021 International Youth Day across the globe.
Penpushing reports that, a statement from the world body said the symposium is being organized in collaboration with Nigerian Institute of International Affairs(NIIA), which is commemoration of the day in Lagos State
The statement added that, the symposium is on Transforming Food System: Youth Innovation for Human and Planetary Health, stating that the event which starts 10am, will hold at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Kofo Abayomi street in Lagos.
Penpushing further reports that, the twin events coincides with the 60th anniversary of Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), adding that expected at the ceremony include Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo and Edward Kallon, United Nations(UN) Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria
The other personalities are Mrs. Folorunsho Alakija, Exceutive Vice Chairman, Famfa Oil Ltd Hon. Mudashiru Obasa,(Speaker,Lagos State House of Assembly),Mr. Sunday Dare(Minister of Youths and Sports Development and Oba Abdulwasiu Lawal, Oniru of Iruland among others
Penpushing reports that, in similar development, United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in collaboration with Strategy for Mentoring Initiative and Leadership Empowerment, on same day is organizing a panel discussion on Transforming Food System: Youth Innovation for Human and Planetary health.
The statement said, the panel discussion has been designed to be a zoom meeting for all participants to join at 1pm through zoom meeting platform link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89056964525, adding that, Ronald Kayanja, Director of United Nations Information Centre (UNIC), FAO Country Representative Fred Kafeero , as well as representatives of UNICEF, WFP, UNDP, IFAD and UNFPA to be in attendance
Penpushing also reports that, the theme of International Youth Day 2021, “Transforming Food Systems: Youth Innovation for Human and Planetary Health”, highlights the success of such a global effort will not be achieved without the meaningful participation of young people.
