Traditional ruler, Olowu of Owu gives succor to community, donates borehole

The traditional ruler of Owu in Owu Kingdom of Egbaland, Oba Saka Matemilola has provided and donated borehole to residents of Apo community located in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Penpushing reports that the project which is in fulfilment of one of the pillars of  the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs)  as prescribed  by the United Nations(UN) was commissioned on Wednesday, a ceremony attended by large number of residents.

The monarch who was welcome by the joyous residents of the community in his speech explained that he started the project which is also to cut across other communities within his domain, having conducted survey to know where potable water are needed.

Penpushing further reports that Matemilola assured that one of his focus as traditional ruler was to be dedicated to the welfare and betterment of his subjects, disclosing that, so far five communities have benefited the gestures.

The royal father who called for love and peace among  residents and communities said five other communities in need of the water project have been penciled down, to be next beneficiaries, pointing out that it was a clear fact that government cannot do it alone, hence, need to support

Penpushing also reports that the Professor turned traditional ruler encouraged communities to approach his palace, if they lack any other facilities, with pledge and assurance that the palace will look into such requests and addressed promptly

The Alakoso Owu-Apo, Chief Alani Opaleye earlier in his welcome address thanked the royal father for the gesture, pointing out that, the monarch is known for his renowned spirit of service to Owu kingdom in general

‘When we received  the letter from the palace about the desire of Kabiyesi to come and commission the water project that he has graciously donated to our community, we not only felt honour, but also overwhelmed with emotion’, Opaleye said

Penpushing reports that he said the water project was indeed a great relief to the community, noting that it has brought joy to the people in the area of access to portable drinking, which is not only pivotal to human existence but also a fulfilment of one of the pillars of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) as prescribed by the United Nations (UN)

‘That you deem it fit to donate this project to our community and indeed coming here to personally commission it, is heartwarming and highly commendable. We are indeed very grateful to you for counting our community worthy of this utility water project’, he emphasized

Penpushing further reports that Alakoso pledged that the community will remain loyal to the monarch, adding that the residents/subjects are committed to the lofty goals for which his (Matemilola) reign is noted for and dividends it has yielded in the kingdom

‘Your accomplishment within the short period of time that you ascended the throne of your fore-fathers is awe inspiring and a thing of joy to us. Kabiyesi, we thank you and pray that this is just the beginning. We shall continue to contribute our quota to the development of the Owu kingdom at all times’, he stressed
