Toddler tests positive for coronavirus in ogun state
A two and half years old girl has tested positive for the novel coronavirus at the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital, and is said to be receiving treatment at the centre;s isolation ward.
Penpushing reports that, the Public Relations Officer of the medical facility, Segun Orisajo made this known Sunday evening, adding that the girl was admitted into the hospital eight days ago on account of breathlessness, stating that some investigations were subsequently carried out on her.
“Due to the persisted high temperature, she was isolated; hence no member of staff or other patients were unduly exposed. To confirm the initial suspicion by a team of care givers, on the third day, she was screened for corona virus while her treatment continued”, Orisajo said.
The hospital spokesman added that, the samples of her test returned positive for corona virus stressing that the girl is already receiving treatment at the Centre’s isolation ward while the facility where she was initially admitted has been decontaminated.
Penpushing further reports that,the statement added that the, Medical Director of the health institution, Prof. Adewale Musa-Olomu in reaction said the management had initiated a contact tracing of her relatives.
