International Women’s Day:, Oyo First Lady urges Women to embrace Periodic Health Checkup

The Wife of the Oyo State Governor, Engr. (Mrs.) Tamunominini Makinde, has called on women to embrace periodic medical health checks and physical exercise.

Penpushing reports that the  first lady made this call on Monday during the ‘walk for fitness’ which was organized by the State Women Chapter  of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to commemorates this years 2020 International Women’s Day tagged” I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights.

The Governor’s wife, while addressing women during that walk,  noted that exercise has many health benefits such as protection of joints, knees and hips as well as lower blood sugar, and urged women to embrace periodic medical health check ups like breast examination blood level, blood pressure among others to know  their health status.

Penpushing further reports that Mrs. Makinde maintained that the present administration in the State is committed to the welfare and wellbeing of women in the State regardless of their social status.

The Deputy Governor, Dr. Bolanle Olaniyan, while speaking at the event held in Ibadan urged women to take the education of their children seriously, stressing that education is the bedrock of development.

Penpushing also reports that, in her remark, the lyaloja of Bodija Market, Chief Mrs. Victoria Onipede appreciated the present administration for the various women friendly programmes and policies.

Meanwhile, the wife of the Governor led other top Government functionaries such as the Head of Service, Mrs Ololade Agboola, Commissioner for Women Affairs, Permanent Secretary and  the women wing of the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC and Trade Union Congress,TUC in a fitness walk from the Secretariat to Bodija Market in Ibadan.
