Terrorists kill several travellers along federal highway

Terrorists have killed number of persons and several others abducted on the Funtua – Gusau highway in Zamfara State, while one of those wounded was identified as the immediate former House of Representatives member of Mafara/Anka (Zamfara State) Hon Kabiru Yahaya.

Penpushing reports that the incident happened on Wednesday when the terrorists allegedly attacked motorists on the highway, after blocking the road between Kucheri – Magazu in Tsafe Local Government at about 3:30 p.m.

The media aide of the former lawmaker Musbahu Aliyu, confirmed the sad development adding that the bandits timed the arrival of vehicles to and from Gusau and started to shoot indiscriminately which led to the blockage of the road

Penpushing further reports that Aliyu explained that his principal was the only one taken to Tsafe General Hospital alive,adding that as at the time of the incident it could not be ascertained on number of people who lost their lives

‘The terrorists timed the arrival of vehicles to and from Gusau and started to shoot indiscriminately which led to the blockage of the road. No one knows the number of those killed or abducted. They abducted all the passengers in the first vehicle, he said.

Penpushing also reports that the media aide stated Yahaya had been transferred to another health facility in the state capital, Gusau, just as another source said the attack occurred a few minutes after he passed the spot.

The source who identified himself Sas Murtala said he heard the sounds of gunshots minutes before reaching Tsafe, affirming that he saw several military vehicles racing towards the scene of the attack.

Penpushing reports that the Zamfara State Police Command Public Relations Officer Yazid Abubakar, as at the time of filing this report was yet to react to the ugly development or issue and official statement.
