Family, friends, associates converge on Akinale community for one year remembrance of Oba Olufemi Ogunleye
The family of late Towulade of Akinale, Owu Kingdom in Egbaland, Oba Olufemi Ogunleye on Thursday joined by friends, associates and personalities converged on the town for remembrance service for the monarch who passed a year ago.
Penpushing reports that the family led by Olori Olanike Ogunleye held a church service in memory of the renowned veteran journalist turned traditional ruler and thereafter embarked on distribution of food items to widows, aged women and children in the community.
The guests were equally entertained at a colourful and well packaged reception held inside the palace, with a one-man musical band, while number of people including indigenes and residents of the community located in Ewekoro local government area of Ogun State shared their experiences with the royal father while alive, adding that the community has and still missing absence of the deceased.
Penpushing further reports that a cousin of the late traditional ruler, Arike Adeniji,as well as Baale in Ewekoro local government area,Chief Femi Olatidoye and a human right activist, Comrade Toyin Raheem,eulogised Ogunleye describing him as a true leader and devoted traditional ruler as well as professional to the core.
The Baptist Cleric Rev Zacharaiah Tanigbola in his sermon at the service admonished the families, friends and Akinale community to uphold the legacies of love,dedication, honesty and service to God and humanity as exemplified by the late royal father in his life times.
Penpushing also reports that Tanigbola reading from the book of THESSALONIANS 4:51-57,described late Ogunleye as honest and committed father,husband and monarch whose contributions to the family, church,community are immense.
The clergyman enjoined the family, friends and the entire Akinale community not to despair but to forge ahead in ensuring legacies left behind by the late traditional ruler are not rubbished.
Penpushing reports that one of the daughters of the late royal father, Mrs Olufunke Ajala thanked God for the life of their father,who according to her,was a dedicated,loving,responsible father and will surely be missed.
