Substitute our names and await legal action, assembly candidates dare peoples democratic party leadership in Ogun State

The emerged candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the primaries for the Ogun State House of Assembly have threatened to drag leadership of the party to court, if the authority attempt to substitute their names has been rumoured.

Penpushing reports that, the candidates made the threat at a press conference held at Press Centre, Iwe-Iroyin Abeokuta, declaring that following their emergence at the primaries duly monitored which took place at the approved venues, they remained the authentic candidates to represent the party at the poll

The candidates include: Dada Oduntan, who emerged as the candidate for the Abeokuta Central Senatorial District, Akeem Amosun for Abeokuta South Federal Constituency and Olawale Soyode for Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency

Penpushing further reports that others are Samuel Abiodun, who emerged for Abeokuta North/Obafemi Owode/Odeda Federal Constituency, Olanrewaju Enilolobo for Abeokuta South 1 Constituency, Surajudeen Adeyemi, Abeokuta South II and Makanjuola Daniel of Ewekoro State Constituency

The candidate who emerged from Abeokuta South Local Government, Akeem Amosun who spoke on behalf of others at the press conference said they were duly elected by delegates at the designated venue scheduled by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

Penpushing also reports that, he emphasized that the exercises, were dully monitored by the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security operatives including the police, Directorate of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence (NSCDC).

The aggrieved candidates expressed dismay over the rumored plot by the Sikirulai Ogundele led executive of the party to substitute their names, calling on national leadership of the party to call the executive to order

Penpushing reports that, the candidates alleged that the Ogundele led executive of the party was playing the script of a governorship aspirant, Ladi Adebutu, who they claimed has hijacked the party.

The candidates having displayed the schedule of the primary and the centres,during the press conference, emphasized that they would resist any attempt, to substitute their names, to a logical level.

“We are the authentic candidates elected by authentic delegates at the authentic venues. We shall resist any attempt to do otherwise. We are using this medium to alert the National Secretariat of the party. We shall not hesitate to go to court, if the party fail  to act according to the results, that we obtained from the primary.”

Penpushing further reports that, in similar vein, Samuel Abiodun said to have emerged as the party candidate for Abeokuta North/Odeda/Obafemi-Owode federal constituency, stressed that the party executive was trying to play the bid of Adebutu who he said has hijacked the party.

“We however know where the problem is coming from, it is Hon. Ladipupo Adebutu that is causing all these things. He has hijacked the leadership of the party from Hon. Sukurullahi Ogundele, the Chairman of the party but we have resolved to go to court if our grievances is not attended to by the party. We won’t accept these illegalities”, he declared
