Students lament high cost of living, inadequate electricity supply

The Students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, (MAPOLY) Abeokuta, have lamented high cost of living coupled with lack of electricity supply, which now give them sleepless night and caused hardship towards their academic and social activities.

Penpushing reports that number of students interviewed said it has not been easy and its challenging for them to live a comfortable life most especially in feeding themselves on three square meals on a daily basis.

The students declared that the situation is no more bearable for them even to concentrate in school, with a call on the Nigerian government to as a matter of need rise up to these challenges among others which are becoming nightmare.

Penpushing reports that one of the students identified as Rahmotullahi Balogun pointed out that there is no power purchase for them as cost of food items are not affordable anymore, stressing that the pocket money given them by their parents doesn’t take them far.

The colleague of the student, Aishat Busari said the services of Ibadan Distribution Electricity Company (IBDEC), is becoming worst everyday, adding that sometimes there will be no power supply for days, adding that the hot weather was another torturing experience they are passing through.

Penpushing further reports that Busari explained most of the time they have to go to eatery and other offices nearby their homes, to even charged their phones, stressing that the experience is worrisome and disturbing.

The undergraduate of mass communications, Oluwatosin Fakeye on her own part passionately called on the authorities to find a lasting solution to the ugly trend, while Ayomide Akinsola of the Mechanical Engineering Department noted that the rate which food stuff rise astronomically is killing.
