3 killed in multiple crash on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

A fatal multiple crash occurred on Thursday at about 12.30pm in Arepo axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway with a record of three deaths and four persons sustaining injuries, as well as one person confirmed to be unhurt.

Penpushing reports that, Public Education Officer of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC),Ogun State Command Florence Okpe confirmed this in a statement adding that a total of eight persons were involved

‘A total of 08 persons were involved which comprised of 07 male adult and 01 female adult. 04 persons were injured, 01 female adults and 03 male adults and 01 person was unhurt. A total of 03 persons were killed and all male adults’, she said

Penpushing further reports that, Okpe said five vehicles were involved with registration numbers FKJ848FH a Toyota Corolla, WDE184UP a BAJAJ motorcycle, SGM404VL, Motorcycle, DED802VC a motorcycle and a motorcycle with no registration number on it

The Route Commander of the Corps said suspected causes of the multiple crash were excessive speed which led to loss of control on the part of the Toyota Corolla car which ran into the motorcycles at the bus stop picking passengers

‘The injured victims were taken to Beachland Hospital AREPO for medical attention and ROA Hospital AREPO while two of the dead bodies were taken by the Hausa community at AREPO for burial and the remaining dead person was taken to Divine Touch Hospital morgue.

Penpushing  also reports that, the statement said the Motor Traffic Department (MTD) of the  Police Warewa took custody of the crashed vehicles and obstruction cleared off as at the time of filing this report.

The Sector Commander of the agency, the statement said  reiterated on speed violation and advised motorists to obey traffic rules and regulations, and  also sympathize with the families of the deceased and pray that God should strength them for the losses.
