Show love to vulnerable, Oyo state first lady charges Nigerians

The wife of Oyo State Governor, Engr. Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde has called on Nigerians to show more love to vulnerable and less privileged children especially those with disabilities.

Penpushing reports that Makinde stated this while commissioning Jesus Kids Home for the disabled held at Jesus kids village, Lagun village, Ibadan, Oyo State, stressing that children with disabilities should be encouraged and given total support to accomplish their visions without discrimination.

.The wife of the governor, who was represented by the wife of Deputy Governor, Prof. Bolanle Olaniyan explained that much could be done in reducing disabilities in children through prevention, protection and immunization.

Penpushing further reports that, the first lady added  that, there is need to show care for the disabled children by spending more time, showing love and developing a robust program that will enhance their better living in the society.

The Governor’s wife,in a statement signed by the Media Officer, Sunday Ogundare, which was made available to journalists on Thursday in Ibadan,, called on well meaning Nigerians and Non-Governmental Organizations to collaborate with the state government in alleviating the predicament of these categories of people.

Penpushing also reports that, Makinde, commended the founder of Jesus Kids Home, Dr. Mrs. Ololade Adamolekun for her selfless services towards over 120 children with disabilities since inception, especially those that were abandoned by their parents with different disabilities such as Down syndrome, Autism, Cerebral palsy, Physical impairment, Chronic illness, Retardation and Sensory disabilities amongst others.

The founder of Jesus Kids Home, Dr. Mrs. Ololade Adamolekun in her welcome address, stated that the home was one of the leading Non Governmental Organisation(NGO) collaborating and supporting the state government’s effort in providing hope, psychosocial, medical, vocational, rehabilitation and shelter to children with disabilities and other vulnerable children.

Penpushing further reports that, she lauded the first lady and Oyo State Government for their support towards vulnerable children, as well as Federal Ministry of Education and Universal Basic Education (UBEC) for the special fund given to Jesus Kids Home to build classrooms for children with special needs.

Meanwhile, other dignitaries at the event include the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Alhaja Faosat Sanni, the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Christianah Abioye and other Directors of the Ministry.
