Plane skids off runway at Nigerian airport

A private plane with registration number N580KR conveying about 10 persons on board from Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Friday, skidded off the runway at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola airport in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.

Penpushing reports that spokesperson of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Carol Adekotujo, said the plane landed at about 11 a.m. at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola airport, and suddenly missed runway, ending up in a nearby bush.

The aviation sources, however, explained that no life was lost or casualty recorded during the incident, adding that firefighters and rescue officials from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) were immediately deployed to the scene.

Penpushing further reports that it is recalled that last November, the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, escaped death when a plane he was on board crash-landed at the same Samuel Ladoke Akintola airport.
