Amosun donates rice, cash gifts to inmates of correctional centres in Ogun state

Former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has donated bags of Nigerian made rice, cooking oil and cash gifts to inmates of the correctional facilities located in the three zones of the state, gestures said to be part of his 64th birthday ceremony

Penpushing reports that the donations were also extended to Stella Obasanjo Home, an abode for motherless children located within the Government Reservation Area (GRA), Ibara, Abeokuta,  the State Capital.

The media aide of former Governor, Alhaji Bola Lawal accompanied by former member of Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon Idowu Ajenifuja represented Amosun to present the items to the beneficiaries at ceremonies held on Friday.

Penpushing further reports that, Amosun in his brief speech read by Lawal to the officials of the correctional Centre at Ibara, Abeokuta, before processing to other centres, explained that, he (Amosun) had resolved embarking on the gestures annually as part of his birthday contributions.

The Senator representing Ogun Central at the National Assembly equally extended his gestures to Borstal Training Institute, Adigbe; and Daniel Akintonde School for Children with Special Needs.

Penpushing also reports that, Amosun noted that the annual celebration of his  birthday in the midst of the needy in the society uplifts his hearts, stressing further that such goes a long way in giving a hope of a better tomorrow to the inmates.

The immediate past Governor pointed out that it is good to be neighbours’ keepers, and called on need to extend to other people whatever God has given to one, emphasizing the importance of helping each other.

Penpushing reports that, Controller of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Ogun State Command, Abdul-Risheed Alimi, in his response expressed gratitude over the donation, stressing that the gesture would go a long way at scaling up the welfare of the inmates.

“This will definitely give us a lot of leverage in terms of needs for inmates’ welfare. We will just continue to thank him and we pray that God will continue to give him all his heart desires”,Alimi said.
