Ogun state government throws stadium open for spectators to watch Confederation of Africa Football championship
The Ogun State Government has encouraged all sports enthusiasts to come out emasse to watch and support Nigeria flagbearer Kwara United as they take on Asante Kotoko of Ghana on Sunday, September 28, 2025 for the second leg of Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) tournament scheduled to hold at MKO Sports Arena, Kuto, Abeokuta.
Penpushing reports that the call was contained in a statement by the Ogun State Commissioner for Sports, Wasiu Isiaka adding that the match will kick off 4pm and that it’s part of the dividends of the recent National Sports Festival (NFA), showcasing the arena as a premier venue for high-profile matches, explaining that the popular side of the stadium is free for spectators and payment for the Very Important Personalities (VIP’s) seats
The Commissioner boasted that Ogun State government is proud to boast that the MKO Sports Arena has recently hosted notable games, including the Confederation Africa Federation (CAF) Champions League home and away matches between Remo Stars and US Zilimadjou of Comoros.
Penpushing further reports that Isiaka emphasised that is significant to note that the last time Confederation of Africa Federation (CAF) Champions League matches were played in Ogun State was in early 2001 when Julius Berger Football Club made the then Moshood Kashimawo Abiola International Stadium its home venue.
“We urge everyone in and around Abeokuta, the state capital, and Ogun State in general, to come out in large numbers to enjoy exciting football between Kwara United and Asante Kotoko of Ghana. Let’s come together to celebrate sports and community spirit!’, the Commissioner emphasised
