OGUN GOVERNMENT SET UP COMMITTEE ON MINIMUM WAGE

 The Governor also disclosed that a new Head of Service would be appointed soon to continue on the right path of leadership for the State public service, pledging the commitment of his administration to continue to see to workers’ welfare.

“As the Head of Service takes a bow next week, we understand that there should be no vacuum in leadership and so very soon, we will appoint a new Head of Service that will continue on the right part of leadership in the State public service”, he said.

Penpushing further reports that, he attributed the achievements recorded in the last six months to the dedication and commitment of public servants, adding that the workforce had a proud legacy of professionalism built around people like late Simeon Adebo and Poju Adeyemi, who made the State proud in their days.

 The Governor said it was imperative for any government that desires substantive achievements to value the roles of public servants, as they were catalyst for positive and rapid transformation of any society, while the State public service remains a critical stakeholder and bedrock of meaningful development in the State.

“As political office holders, we are aware that we cannot go far without the support and participation of our workforce in the Service. I wish to equivocally reiterate our desire to build and develop our public service better than what we met on ground’’.

Penpushing also reports that, Abiodun described the theme of the celebration, “Collective Will, Collective Development”, as apt, pointing out that the Public Private Partnership (PPP) was an integral part of his agenda to improve the State’s economy, enjoining public servants to ensure that the initiative was mutually beneficial, as government was determined to implement people oriented and friendly policies and programmes that would translate to better welfare package for the people.

The Head of Service, Engineer Lanre Bisiriyu, earlier in his welcome speech  said the State had produced best hands in the public service, calling on the workers to keep the flag flying by maintaining the high ethical standards which the service was noted for.

 The Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dangote Group, Mr. Joseph Makoju while delivering lecture titled,, “Expectations of Private Sector from  the Public Service on the Public Private Partnership” observed that, for a country to develop, it must tackle its infrastructural deficit, maintaining that one of the ways of going about it was through PPP.

Penpushing reports that, while pointing out that PPP has been successfully implemented by many countries, including Nigeria, to solve infrastructural challenges, he listed some models of PPP to include; management contract, concession and Hybrid, saying management contract involves government taking on some financial burden, as the private sector manage the project and receive a fee on result.

 The Chief Judge of the State, Hon. Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu, represented by Justice Abiodun Akinyemi,  in her goodwill message called on the people to make use of the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanism, to resolve disagreements, pledging that the Judiciary would continue to play its legal roles, to ensure that the State remain the industrial hub of the nation.
