OGUN DEPUTY GOVERNOR JOINS PENPUSHING MEDIA

The Deputy Governor who commended the team for the initiative affirmed that, the emergence of Penpushing into the media world was a welcome development to tackle fake news, adding that fake news is a global challenge.

Penpushing further reports that, the number two citizen of the State pointed out that social media is the worst in fake news dissemination, regarding some of the so-called social media sources as noise making avenues.

Penpushing is pushing news well. Penpushing is a dependable source of news, before today, I do acknowledge authentic news known for, and I want to encourage the team to keep it up. I am also glad to be part’, she said

Penpushing also reports that, Salako-Oyedele described effective communication and positive feedback as factors that aid good governance, adding that it was good that government engaged the people who elected them into power.

The Deputy Governor said the Dapo Abiodun led administration runs an open door policy by engaging the public to hear their views, pointing out that, no state government should distance itself from people who voted for them.

Penpushing reports that, she assured the citizens of the state that the present administration remained accessible, stressing that it was essential for any government to get feedback from the masses so that it could correct whatever it is, that was wrong.

“Like you said, fake news is a global challenge that is not limited to us here and most reported speech about government or organisations were never as good and accurate as the speech in many news platform now’.

‘It is also the fact that people are moving more away from print media but want quick news which make them to go online but the challenges is how to confirm the authencity of the news” she said.

The Chairman of Penpushing Media Editorial Board, Mrs. Funke Fadugba earlier in her speech hinted that the news platform is a body of different professionals that cut across politics, traditional institutions, religious bodies and past Governors in the State.

Penpushing further reports that, Fadugba added that the medium came into existence in response to fight fake news, when it realised that the competence and relevance of the media was no longer reliable.

The Board Chairman stated that the platform was also an avenue to propagate genuine information to members of the public, noting that the platform had been able to moderate issues that could have generated into further controversies, stressing that as a way of giving back to   the society, the platform has used its feedback mechanism help the government and other stakeholders achieve their aims and objectives.
