A Nollywood actor, Azeez Ijaduade has been hit by police bullet in the neck during the Bramaj Company end-of-year party in a hotel, in Iperu town of Ogun State, and has since been rushed to the Babcock University Teaching Hospital where he is said to be recuperating as at the time of filing this report

Penpushing reports that earlier a colleague of the victim Abiodun Adebanjo had on Instagram claimed that Ijaduade was shot by the police, and asking for the contact of the Inspector General of Police to draw his attention to the development

“Please, we need help in Iperu. My director, Azeez Ijaduade, @kingzeez1, was shot by a Nigeria Police personnel. He is presently at Babcock University Teaching Hospital. Anybody with the contacts of the Police IG or Commissioner should reach out; the post reads

Penpushing further reports that in swift response the Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola in a statement said it was an ammunition shell, and not a bullet hit Nigerian actor and movie Director in the neck

‘During the Bramaj Company end-of-year party in a hotel, a mobile policeman attached to the Chinese expatriate expended a shot into the air, and unfortunately, the ammunition shell hit one Azeez Ijaduade “m “an actor, on the neck. He was rushed to hospital in Ilishan and he is in a very stable condition,” she said.

Penpushing also reports that the police spokesperson disclosed that the officer alleged to have committed the crime had been arrested, adding that an investigation has commenced into the incident.

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Abiodun Alamutu, has however, paid a visit to the actor at the In-Patient Wards of the Babcock University Teaching Hospital around 11 am on Sunday. Where he was receiving treatment

Penpushing reports that Alamutu disclosed that the officer who fired the shot is already facing disciplinary actions, explaining that the unnamed cop had fired a bullet into the air to disperse thugs who wanted to mob the personality he was attached to.

The Commissioner admitted that the shooting was unfortunate and uncalled for, expressed joy that the actor is in a stable condition, expressing optimism that Ijaduade would be discharged after he had been certified okay by the Doctors.

‘It was actually an unfortunate incident, but from all indications, I have seen the victim, it was not a direct hit. Actually, some people were trying to mob the principal the policeman was attached with, in a bit to scare them off, he had to fire some shots. It was unfortunate the victim was within that axis. It was the shell that hit the victim’, Alamutu said.

‘From all indications, he is getting better. The concerned policeman is already undergoing disciplinary procedure. What is important is for us to ensure that no life is lost. From what I’ve seen so far, he’s recuperating, only that he needs to be observed for some time to ensure that no vital part of his body is affected. From the way I see him, I believe none is affected. But that can only be certified by the medical experts’, he added

Penpushing further reports that Alamutu said though there were times officers would need to fire shots to disperse crowds, he however, declared that this current situation cannot be justified, noting that the officer involved did not display professionalism, saying that was why he would be made to face disciplinary actions.
