Governor Abiodun swears-in High Court, Customary Court of Appeal Judges

The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun on Tuesday sworn-in Mr. Martins Akinyemi, as a Judge in the State High Court and Mrs. Bolanle Awoyemi as well as Mr. Adeniyi Lawal, as Judges in the Customary Court of Appeal.

Penpushing reports that the swearing in was held at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, as the Governor described justice as one of the most important moral values in the sphere of law and politics, saying justice exists to establish law, order, truth and ensure equal access to justice, while addressing systemic barriers

The Governor reminded the new judges to not only rise above temptations and trials but also be calculative and honest in all ramifications, expressing confidence that the tradition of integrity, diligence, industry and excellence that had been the hallmark of the state Judiciary would be enhanced.

‘The role of a Judge in a High Court and Customary Court of Appeal requires not only legal acumen but also a deep appreciation of the traditions and customs that shape our society”, Abiodun stated.

Penpushing further reports that he affirmed that the event represents a cornerstone of the justice system in the state, noting that the judges have demonstrated unwavering dedication, integrity and understanding of the intricacies of the judicial system that would contribute to the continued strength and impartiality of the state judiciary.

The Governor urged the judges to remain steadfast in their commitment to serving the state with honour and dedication, noting that law and order exist to dispense justice and when they fail in this purpose, they become a dangerous structure that blocks the flow of social progress and economic development

‘Therefore, in taking this esteemed position, you accept the profound responsibility to uphold justice, preserve the customs of our people and ensure that the principles of fairness and equity prevail in every ruling,” he said.
