Harvarde College chronicles achievements, reaffirms commitment to quality education

The management of Harvarde College of Science, Business and Management Studies, Obada, Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Wednesday chronicled the remarkable transformation of the institution from its modest beginnings as a study center under the Olabisi Onabanjo University consult programme to its current status.

Penpushing reports that Provost of the institution, Dr. Oluwatosin Adebayo at a press conference explained that the institution is now a fully licensed polytechnic under the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), offering both National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programmes.

The Provost disclosed the readiness of the institution to begin the Higher National Diploma (HND) programme in Law, with its proposal already submitted to the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

Penpushing further reports that Adebayo at the conference organized by the Public Relations and Strategic Communication Unit of the school disclosed that Harvarde College is among the select institutions scheduled for the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

The Provost who later alongside top management took journalists round on facility tour of the school, explained that the upcoming visit by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) is a critical step towards full accreditation to offer the Higher National Diploma (HND) in Law.

Penpushing also reports that he stated that the development follows the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) recent approval for two polytechnics to commence the National Diploma (ND) in Law.

‘In the next two years, these institutions, including ours, are expected to begin the HND in Law. We have already submitted our proposal, and we are prepared to meet the standards of NBTE’, he stated

Penpushing reports that Adebayo explained that the institution had undergone significant reforms in infrastructure, curriculum, and faculty development in readiness for this academic expansion.

The Provost added that the institution has weathered past challenges and is now focused on capacity building and innovation, as well as investing in technology-driven education.

‘We are not only expanding our programmes but also investing in technology-driven education. Our classrooms are fully air-conditioned, our lecturers are undergoing continuous training, and we are leveraging digital platforms, virtual and augmented reality, and e-learning systems to deliver 21st-century education’

Penpushing further reports that he said the institution’s partnerships with industries and local and international institutions aimed at promoting research, entrepreneurship, and staff development.

The Provost emphasized that the college, remains fully committed to regulatory compliance with agencies such as National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB,) and Industrial Training Fund(ITF), adding that all programmes undergo regular accreditation and re-accreditation.

Penpushing also reports that he called for renewed commitment to educational advancement in the South-West region, and urged stakeholders to support institutions like Harvarde College in building on the legacy of academic excellence laid by past generations.

“As an academic institution committed to preparing students for tomorrow’s leadership, we urge all stakeholders to join hands in rebuilding and strengthening education in our region’, he said.

Penpushing reports that Adebayo boasted that the college offers programmes which include Accounting, Banking and Finance, Business Administration and Management, Mass Communication, Public Administration, Crime Management, Computer Science, and Cooperative Economics and Management.

The Provost disclosed that at the Higher National Diploma level, the institution offers advanced studies in Accountancy, Business Administration and Management, and also offer courses on Software and Web Development, Networking and Cloud Computing, Journalism and Media Studies, as well as Film and Multimedia Studies.

Penpushing further reports that beyond internal development,Adebayo underscored the college’s growing commitment to partnerships and affiliations both within Nigeria and abroad.

The Provost explained that collaboration remains key in today’s knowledge-driven world, as it helps institutions share best practices, pursue joint research, and offer students broader academic exposure through exchange programmes and joint degrees.

Penpushing also reports that during the facility tour, journalists were shown state-of-the-art resources including digital radio and television studios for the Mass Communication Department, a clinic, an Information Technology Communication (ICT) centre housing over 400 multimedia systems, and a modern banking laboratory.
