Land-grabbers sack 80-year old man from home, threaten to assassinate him if property is not handover

An 80 year old man, Elder Ilemobayo Akinyilade has petitioned Ogun State Commissioner of Police over alleged threat to his life and pulling down his residence by three suspected landgrabbers in bid to take over his properties

Penpushing reports that, the petitioner in a letter written by his lawyer, Barrister Olajumoke Peters to the police command at Eleweran Abeokuta, alleged that the suspects Ilegbe popularly called ‘Pastor’, Adebayo Semiu alias Number one agent,and Fata Baale have been threat to the complainant

‘Our client an elderly man of over 80 years old purchased 2 plots of land situate, lying and being at Itele, Ota, Ogun State jointly with his wife late Mrs Omotunde Rebecca Akinyilade in January 2018 and has obtained all titled document on the said land which are Deed of Assignment, Survey Plan and Certificate of Occupancy with No: HOV/AO/PL/R.9901 Our client and his late wife are lawful owner of the said property’, the petition emphasized

Penpushing further reports the  counsel explained that, the aged man has erected three-bedroom bungalow and four shops on the two plots of land, but sometime in June 2022, the suspected landgrabbers invaded the land.

The petition stated that the suspects destroyed the properties and threatened to kill Akinyilade and his family if he refuse to surrender the said two plots of land to them, pointing out that the landgrabbers have encroached the property by erecting blocks to the height of about 10 feet above the land, claiming ownership of the said property

‘Between 16th of June 2022 till date these landgrabbers had consistently visit our clients house with harmful weapons and charms claiming to kill our client and all members of his family if he refuses to surrender the said property within7 days’, the lawyer emphasized

Penpushing also reports that, the petition added that, the victim had appealed to the community head for his intervention, but all proved abortive, adding that after so much appeal the landgrabbers confessed they had sold the land to an Igbo man.

The petition added that, the landgrabbers declared that unless the 80-year old man pay the sum of N3,000,000 to repurchase the property without encumbrance from them, stressing that the move of the landgrabbers was to subject the aged man to hardship

‘Our client, a retiree, an elderstateman of over 80 years old who purchased the property with his pension, battling with age related illness, struggling to feed is about to be made homeless by these landgrabber’, the lawyer lamented

Penpushing reports that, the counsel noted that the landgrabbers are disturning the peace of members of Ayetoro, Itele-Ota, in the state, adding that they have made both the old and young homeless by forcefully ejecting people from their homes, stealing pproperties and claiming ownership of the entire community

‘They have killed and injured several people, they have snatched landed properties from rightful owner and threatening to kill them if they dare challenge their actions Therefore, the petition is requesting for the immediate arrest of Mr Ilegbede a.ka. Pastor, Mr Adebayo Semiu a.k.a No 1 Agent and Mr Fatai(Baale) prompt intervention on this matter. We look forward for a favourable response sir’, the counsel to the police command

Penpushing further reports that, all frantic efforts to reach the suspected landgrabbers for reactions proved abortive, as finding showed that, they are avoiding making comments on the ugly development as at the time of filing this report
