KHASHOGGI MURDER: AMERICAN GOVERNMENT BARS FORMER SAUDI DIPLOMAT FROM ENTERING COUNTRY
The late Khashoggi was American resident and a critic of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, but got killed inside the Saudi consulate, a development which caused a global uproar, tarnishing the crown prince’s image.
Penpushing further reports that, following the ugly development, the CIA and some Western Governments have posited that they believe Prince Mohammed ordered the killing, but Saudi officials denied any involvement.
The murder also led to apprehension of eleven Saudi suspects who have since been put on trial in secretive proceedings in Riyadh,while the former diplomat previously was the subject of America asset freeze for his alleged role in Khashoggi’s murder.
Penpushing also reports that, President Donald Trump has expressed doubts about the CIA assessment and argued that Washington must not risk its alliance with Riyadh, the cornerstone of U.S. security policy in the Gulf and regarded as a regional counterweight to Iran.
