I will lead crusade to fight alleged injustice perpetrated by Alake, says Oba Shyllon Sogbulu

The traditional ruler of Agbado town of Ogun State Oba Adedayo Shyllon Sogbulu has threatened to drag Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo to court over alleged installation of a coronet Oba right in front of his palace without the prior knowledge of the Egba Traditional Council and himself.

Penpushing reports that the monarch made the declaration in an interview with journalists alleging that Gbadebo did that in to spite him and create problems in his domain, stressing that he would not fold his arms to entertain illegality in his territory.

‘There are two different issues presently under his unilateral decision without the consent, inputs and knowledge of the generality of members of Egba traditional council, running the council as his private business empire, including the protest letters to the government by us, such letter will still be sent to him and be the sole judge in his own cause or case and sent back his wishes to the state with our letter head papers’

‘The illegal Inauguration of a regency council for Obafe town in Obafemi- Owode local government unilaterally when the Oba or the holder is not dead, removed or dethroned but on mere suspension by the Egba Traditional Council at his instance that will soon lapse’

‘Olu Owode -Egba was suspended no regency council was put in place, same Olorile of Orile Ifo, the act that is alien to the chiefs’ law of Ogun State, where then does he got the power to do so from, but, illegal, null and void’, he stated

‘The second aspect is the last week installation of a coronet oba in front of my palace within Agbado town, a compound in Agbado in my immediate catchment as the prescribed authority of Agbado and environs in active connivance with Olofin of Isheri now turned Olofin of Agbado of the same first-class status’.

‘Isheri is like 8km to my town along Berger Lagos Ibadan expressway. All to spite, intimidate, slap and to cause chaos that may lead to break down of law and other and communal clashes at all times’

Penpushing further reports that the first-class traditional ruler equally faulted the recent appointment of a regent in council to take charge of the affairs of Obafemi-Owode as the Olu-Obafemi-Owode, Oba Owolabi is currently on suspension.

The royal father who expressed anger over the development alleged that the said decisions were unilateral carried out by Alake, without the inputs of relevant monarchs, arguing that such are aliens to the traditional council

Penpushing also reports that Alagbado of Agbado who tendered various documents to buttress his points emphasized that the act is completely strange to the extant laws guiding the Obaship affairs in Egbaland.

The monarch added that this was not the first time something of similar nature comes from Alake, adding that there was no meeting of the traditional council where it was agreed that regent in council should be put in place against the Olu Obafemi

“We were at the last meeting that took place before Easter celebrations and nothing of such happened or was discussed at the council meeting, but because of the celebration we could not hold any meeting; Alake with his Ogboni chiefs did this alone,” he said.

Penpushing reports that he pointed out that those characters mentioned as the regent-in-council to replace the Olu of Obafemi were never part of the Egba Traditional Council, hence, the appointment was illegal.

“We are under siege and slavery in the Egba Traditional Council. Alake and his Ogboni chiefs have taken unilateral decisions on a matter that concerns the entire traditional councils’, he stated

Penpushing further reports that Sogbulu while admitting that Alake is the President of the Traditional Council, argued that being the president does not give him sole authority on the council to act contrary to the law.

The monarch who is a fellow of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, United States of America, explained that Alake has, by such action, has violated the latest 2021 Chief’s Law of Ogun State (as amended).

Penpushing also reports that he explained that the said 2021 Chief’s Law of Ogun State was assented to by Governor Dapo Abiodun, and equally made reference to a directive from the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, with reference no: CHM.10/268T/36, dated 17th January, 2017, and forwarded to the Alake of Egbaland, which places an embargo on the installation of Baales across the state.

The traditional ruler of Agbado declared that the alleged action of Alake was an indication that he has moved against the Ogun state government’s directive that restrained him from the appointment of such a regent-in-council for the Olu Obafemi stool.

Penpushing reports that in addition he said the Office of the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in the year 2021 declared to Gbadebo that his power to act as Prescribed Authority over minor chieftaincies is limited to Abeokuta North and Abeokuta South Local Government Areas, which excludes the Òlú Obafe stool in Obafemi-Owode Local Government.

The monarch citing Sections 2 (e) and (f) of the Obas and Chiefs, Council of Obas and Traditional Council Laws of Ogun State, posited that the Alake of Egbaland lacked the prescribed authority to encroach on the affairs of the Olu-Obafe stool in Obafemi-Owode stool.

Penpushing further reports that Sogbulu in same vein accused Alake of running the Egba Traditional Council like his personal company, pointing out that he has been busy engaging himself in the upgrade of 12 new coronet Obas without the consent and approval of the Egba Traditional Council.

The royal father argued that the action clearly violated Section 26, sub (3) of the Obas and Chiefs, Council of Obas and Traditional Council Laws of Ogun State (as amended), which rests such power on the State Executive Council.

Penpushing also reports that Sogbulu declared that he would lead the crusade to check the alleged excesses of the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland towards ensuring that the trend is stopped.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Egba Traditional Council, Oluwaseun David Fajobi, when contacted declined to comment, explaining that he is not authorised to speak to journalists.
