Former Oyo State Governor, Adebayo Alao-Akala dies at 71

The former Governor of Oyo State, Adebayo Alao -Akala has died at 71 inside his bedroom at his Ogbomoso residence after battling a terminal ailment for some time, and his death came exactly one month after traditional ruler of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi, joined his ancestors.
Penpushing reports that the spokesperson of All Progressives Congress,(APC), Olatunde Abdulazeez and Governor Seyi Makinde confirmed the death on Wednesday at separate forum, and Makinde at the event called for a minute silence and asked that the ongoing programme be brought to an abrupt end.
The deceased, a former police officer, was the Governor of Oyo State between 2007 and 2011, and record has it that, he was Deputy to a former Governor, Rashidi Ladoja, between 2003 and 2006, before Ladoja was controversially impeached which consequently made him (Alao-Akala) the Acting Governor for eleven months.

Penpushing also reports that the former Governor was until his death a member of the All Progressive Congress (APC), but governed on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and was also the Governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party(ADP) in the state during the 2019 general elections.
