Former Governor Amosun converts Allied Peoples Movement Secretariat to personal office

Former Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has converted the State Secretariat of the opposition Allied Peoples Movement (APM) to his official constituency office located on Moshood Abiola Way, Abeokuta.

Penpushing reports that, Amosun has erected his billboard with All Progressives Congress (APC) flag adorning the one storey building, which was the operational headquarters of Allied Peoples Movement (APM) during the last general elections.

The former Governor was known to be brain behind the establishment of Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Ogun State Chapter when his desire to install a preferred Governorship candidate, Hon Adekunle Akinlade under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) failed.

Penpushing further reports that, the controversial Amosun, while sponsoring Allied Peoples Movement(APM), to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress(APM) in the Governorship race, however, on his own kept fate with the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC), to contest the Senatorial seat.

The Governorship Candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Hon Adekunle Akinlade lost at the poll, while his sponsor, Amosun won the senatorial seat in Ogun Central under the platform of All Progressives Congress(APC)

Penpushing also reports that, after the general elections, activities at the Allied Peoples Movement(APM) secretariat became drastically low, and the place started wearing a ghost town look, having being abandoned by party members and officials.

The former  Governor, at a point during his face-off with the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) under the leadership of the later  sacked National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole was suspended by the party.

Penpushing reports that Amosun was suspended over alleged anti-party activities, and was also fingered as being sponsor of attack on President Muhammed Buhari, during the party campaign held at Moshood Abiola International Stadium, Abeokuta.

The President, his entourage and other leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which include Bola Tinubu, Segun Osoba, Adams Oshiomhole and Rauf Aregbesola were pelted with sachet water and stones by political thugs during the campaign.

Penpushing further reports that, Amosun was later re-absorbed into the party, but as at the time of filing this report, he has continued keeping distance from the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) in his home Ogun State.

The immediate past Governor, it is recalled when he flagged off his campaign for a senatorial seat, said he was a victim of envy within the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC).

Penpushing also reports that, Amosun while addressing the party supporters at Panseke venue of the campaign rally in Abeokuta said the unnamed party leaders who worked towards denying him of the opportunity to present his candidate, “were only playing god”.

The embattled Amosun said the party leaders did not realise that, it is only God who gives power, adding that, “it was amazing that those leaders are planning electoral victory ahead of the faraway 2023 poll, forgetting that nobody knows who will be alive then”.

“I am a victim of envy, forgetting that God owns our lives, and they are playing god. They have even started planning for the presidency ahead of the far away 2023 political dispensation. Who knows who will be alive tomorrow?”

Penpushing reports that, at the rally he  asked the electorate not to vote for the Governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress(APC), Dapo Abiodun, but vote for  Akinlade, who is the Governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement(APM).

The Ogun State caretaker committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC)  in reaction declared that  Amosun was suffering from what it termed, an ’outgoing syndrome’, and needs pity and prayers.

Penpushing also reports that, the ruling party  through its Publicity Secretary, Tunde Oladunjoye,  said Amosun should be ignored, adding that,  rather than exchange words with Amosun, the party would call on members of the public to please sympathise with him and pray for him,

‘He is obviously manifesting outgoing syndrome resulting from political amnesia, loss of touch with reality and fear of life after office. For an individual to attempt to play God, and assault the collective intelligence of the well-informed people of Ogun State by telling them who the next Governor of Ogun State will be, as if he has already written the results, shows that such a person deserves our pity; we don’t need to exchange words with him, but to actually sympathise with him.”

Penpushing reports that, it is recalled that, the statement said the constant, unceasing and monotonous attacks on Dapo Abiodun, the then All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship candidate, shows that he is the leading contestant in the race.

The party challenged Amosun‘to publish the recent survey he commissioned and which he read to some leaders in his house , wherein it was revealed that his preferred Governorship candidate will not only lose the election but also lose in the Governor’s hitherto strongholds of Ifo, Ewekoro and Ado Odo Ota local governments.

“Our party and candidate will remain focused, maintain decorum and continue to sell out policies and programmes to the good and discerning people of Ogun State, even as we are sure of victory,” Oladunjoye wrote
