Former Commissioner, Tony Ojeshina emerges Social Democratic Party Governorship Candidate in Ogun state

A former Commissioner for Environment in Ogun State, Engr Tony Ojeshina has emerged as the governorship candidate of Social Democratic Party(SDP) in  Ogun State, ahead of the 2023 general election, boasting that if elected he would run the affairs of the state successfully without federal  Government allocations.

Penpushing reports that, Ojeshina was presented to the public on Friday by the Chairman of the party, Yinka Ola-Williams accompanied by other chieftains and members of the party cut across all the twenty local government area of the state.

The Governorship candidate who was a commissioner under the administration of former Governor Gbenga Daniel, while speaking at the Sweet Sensation Hall venue of the ceremony located in Oke-Ilewo area of Abeokuta also presented  his manifesto tagged, ’Creating A Model State’

Penpushing further reports that, Ojeshina explained that his desire to seek the highest office in the state is borne out of a conviction that the people deserve the best in governance at every democratic turn, noting that one malaise that plagued democratic process and arrested socioeconomic development in the country is the deficiency of credible leadership across board.

‘I see Ogun state not only as a bastion of hope but as a bulwark of liberty and socio justice. I see Ogun state experiencing a socio-economic, human political and development regeneration in the next four years’, he said

The party flagbearer assured that with experience he had garnered through his journey in life, his mission to the government house was to use his creative initiative alongside a team of intelligent, resourceful, dedicated and patriotic Ogun state indigenes, to create a new template of real and people-oriented development

‘We shall deploy the resources of Ogun state to create the atmosphere whereby every adult and children alike would have the capacity to create wealth for themselves. Ogun state people would have equal opportunities and veritable platform to create the chance for better future’, he emphasized

‘Ogun state of my dream is a state that will be economically and financially secured and sustainable, even if federal allocations are not available I present to you today, my governance manifesto tagged,’ Creating A Model State’. I enjoin all our citizens to follow us in thought and prayers, as we discuss and debate true governance’, Ojeshina added

Penpushing also reports that,  Chairman of the Party, Yinka Ola-Williams in his remarks commended Ojeshina on what he described as a well articulated manifesto, pointing out that it is one of the feature that stands the party out of the others

The party boss, however, encouraged residents and eligible electorate called on need to get their Permanent Voter Cards(PVC), stressing that elections are not won on social media but with active participation

“We cannot be more joyful because finally in Ogun State, we have a governor. We do not just have a governor, but we have a governor that would win election. Like I have always said, ours in SDP is not about campaign of calumny and complaining about things not being done. Ours is to join the train and show the difference. Whatever good has been done, ours is to build upon it”, he added
