FOREIGN DONORS STOPPED FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR CHILDREN HOME BECAUSE OF SEXUAL ASSAULT ALLEGATION AGAINST ME, DIRECTOR TELLS COURT

Newton-Wusu who was a witness in the case, had during a cross examination by the counsel of the defendants, Atanda Ibrahim said he received financial support in dollars  from foreign donors to run the college, part of which is used to take care of the children in the home.

‘I received money in dollars, part of which is to take care of the children at the home. What they give us was not enough for care of the children, which is why I seek donations from other agencies. The students are about 400; they pay stipends as school fees’, he added

He said, he got to know about sexual assault allegation against him through an anonymous petition as well as a petition by Child Protection Network (CPN) a Non-Governmental Organisation, which is into child right advocacy.

‘The donors have since stopped the financial support after the allegation, which is in court. The past students were been sponsored. The female ex-students were paid to malign my character’ he told the court.

Newton-Wusu also gave reasons why he scrapped the Parents/Teachers Association (PTA) of the college, explaining that, the body was fond of causing trouble, hence, he took the decision to scrap the association

When asked what qualified him to be address as a Reverend, he admitted not attending any Theological College, but added that he only had training the Computer, and in further cross examination, he said, he could not ascertain number of students who paid school fees.

Meanwhile, after 3 hours of the cross examination, the Judge, B.O Ilo adjourned continuation of the trail to Wednesday, March 14, 2018
